Nenad Roban, izv. prof. art., rođen u Koprivnici 1951., diplomirao je oblikovanje nakita na Kraljevskoj akademiji lijepih umjetnosti u Antwerpenu, gdje je polazio i poslijediplomski studij na Višem institutu. Početkom 90-ih osnovao je atelijer za izradu nakita i objekata u različitim materijalima u kojem i danas stvara. Od 2008. godine u zvanju docenta predaje Oblikovanje nakita, kasnije Objekti za tijelo i prostor, te Dizajn: povijest i suvremenost na Akademiji primijenjenih umjetnosti u Rijeci. Od 2009. godine predaje Uvod u dizajn, Arhitektura i dizajn i Uvod u medije na Odsjeku nederlandistike na Filozofskom fakultetu u Zagrebu. Od 2020. godine predaje Dizajn: povijest i suvremenost na Poslovnom veleučilištu Zagreb. Član je HDD-a i HDLU-a. Od 1973. godine izlaže na samostalnim i skupnim izložbama u zemlji i inozemstvu.

Nenad Roban, Associate Professor of Art, born in Koprivnica in 1951, graduated in jewelry design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he also attended postgraduate studies at the Higher Institute. In the early 90's he founded a studio for making jewelry and objects in various materials, where he still creates today. Since 2008, as assistant professor, he has been teaching Jewellery Design, then  later Objects for Body and Space and Design: History and Modernity at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. Since 2009 he has been teaching Introduction to Design, Architecture and Design and Introduction to Media at the Department of Dutch Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. Since 2020, he has been teaching Design: History and Modernity at the Zagreb Business Polytechnic. He is a member of HDD and HDLU. Since 1973 he has been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions in the country and abroad.

Tijekom povijesti čovječanstva točke i linije činile su ljude sretnima u svakodnevnom životu kao i na području umjetnosti. Njihovo korištenje u likovnim umjetnostima podudara se s pojavom različitih avangardi. Svi vole privlačnost pravocrtnosti, kao i zaokruženost točki različitih veličina. Varljiva jednostavnost linije i točke zabavna je, jer iako djeluju kao da završavaju same u sebi, zapravo su pokretači daljnje opservacije, zamišljanja, maštanja, progresa... Ta njihova višeznačnost oduvijek budi nadu u razvoj ili sretniju budućnost, u nesigurnoj sadašnjosti.

Throughout human history, dots and lines have made people happy in everyday life as well as in the field of art. Their use in fine arts coincides with the emergence of various avant-gardes. Everyone loves the appeal of linearity including the roundness of dots of different sizes. The deceptive simplicity of the line and the point is agreeable, because even though they seem to end in themselves, they are actually the initiators of further observation, imagination, fantasy, progress... Their ambiguity has always raised hopese for development or a happier future, in an uncertain present.
