Tanja Dabo, rođena u Rijeci 1970., multimedijska umjetnica, autorica umjetničkih instalacija, performansa, fotografskih radova, videoradova, urbanih intervencija, umjetničkih knjiga, grafika i dr. U svom radu bavi se temama položaja pojedinca u društvu, odnosa umjetnika/umjetnica i institucija, individualnog prema kolektivnom, nametnutih očekivanja i slično. Od 1993. godine izlaže na brojnim samostalnim i skupnim izložbama, kustoskim projektima i festivalima u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu, natječajnog i pozivnog karaktera. Svoj je rad predstavila na više javnih izlaganja i seminara u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu (Zagreb; Headlands, SAD; Prag; Tate Modern, London; Macao, Portugal itd). Samostalno realizirala ili sudjelovala u desetak grafičkih mapa. Radovi su joj uvršteni u više zbirki i muzeja u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu. Objavila je više tekstova i radova u raznim publikacijama (Zarez, Grafika, Radionica, Performance Research itd.), a o njezinu radu objavljeni su brojni osvrti, kritike i publikacije. Selektorica je nekoliko filmskih festivala u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu te autorica nekoliko izložbi. Dobitnica je devet nagrada i priznanja za svoj rad u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu. Radi na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, Grafički odsjek, u zvanju redovite profesorice.
Tanja Dabo, born in 1970 in Rijeka, is a multimedia artist, author of art installations, performances, photographic works, video works, urban interventions, art books, graphics, etc. In her work, she deals with the topics of the position of the individual in society, the relationship between artists and institutions, individual versus collective, imposed expectations, and the like. Since 1993, she has been exhibiting at numerous solo and group exhibitions, curatorial projects and festivals in Croatia and abroad, both juried and invitational. She presented her work at several public exhibitions and seminars in Croatia and abroad (Zagreb; Headlands USA; Prague; Tate Modern, London; Macao, Portugal, etc.). Independently she realized or participated in about a dozen print portfolios. Her works are included in several collections and museums both locally and internationally. She has published several texts and works in various publications (Zarez, Grafika, Workshop, Performance Research, etc.), and numerous reviews, art criticisms and publications have been published about her work. She is the selector of several national and international film festivals, and the author of several exhibitions. She is the winner of 9 awards and recognitions for her work in Croatia and abroad. She works at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Printmaking Department, as a full professor.

Himna je u ovom radu metafora za sva visoka očekivanja koja društvene zajednice postavljaju pred svoje pojedince. Himna na simboličan način objedinjuje sve naše identitete kao pojedince jedne zajednice, i pjevajući državnu himnu, a ne primjerice akademsku, ili neku navijačku, odnosno himnu neke manjinske zajednice kojom bih se identificirala samo s jednom društvenom skupinom i jednim mogućim aspektom svoga identiteta, želim ukazati na ukupnost svog/našeg identiteta unutar jednog društva. Himna je predznak koji nas obilježava iznad svega i najjednostavniji je i najsimboličniji put do naše identifikacije, a pjevanje himne, zbog svoje performativnosti, nedvojben je i amblematski iskaz identiteta, prepoznatljiv svakome unutar te, ali i drugih društvenih zajednica. Ovaj je umjetnički rad istovremeno autoironijski komentar sebe same zbog nemogućeg pokušaja potpunog uklapanja u jedan cjeloviti društveni identitet, ali i kritika društvenih očekivanja koja se postavljaju pred pojedinca, koji njihovim neispunjavanjem postaje nepoželjan član društva, i to u svakoj društvenoj zajednici na svijetu, u kojem god društvenom poretku ili društvenoj skupini.
In this work, the anthem is a metaphor for all the high expectations that social communities place before their individuals. The anthem symbolically unites all our identities as individuals of one community, and by singing the national anthem, and not, for example, an academic anthem, or a cheerleader anthem, that is, the anthem of a minority community which would identify me with only one social group and one possible aspect of my identity, I want to point out to the totality of my/our identity within one society. The anthem is a sign that labels us above anything else and is the simplest and most symbolic way to our identification, and singing the anthem, due to its performative nature, is and unmistakable and emblematic expression of identity, recognizable to everyone within this and other social communities. This work of art is at the same time a self-ironic commentary on oneself due to the impossible attempt to fully fit into one complete social identity, but also a criticism of the social expectations placed before the individual, who by not fulfilling them becomes an unwanted member of society, in every social community in the world, in any social order or social group.
